It’s been a busy few weeks for Italy’s top flight.
The last time the Serie A title was contested in the summer of 2017, they lost to AC Milan 3-1 in a Champions League qualifier in Berlin.
That was also the last time they were crowned champions, and it seems the same applies to the title race this time.
However, things could still change in January with the arrival of Lazio striker Alessandro Matri, and Juventus’ new signing, Andrea Ranocchia.
Matri is the top scorer in the Serie B with 11 goals and has scored six in 10 league appearances for Lazio this season.
He has made the most of his opportunities to score this season, and has become one of Italy’s best attacking options.
His arrival in Italy’s capital is another big step for the nation’s footballing aspirations.
He will be competing for the right to play for the national team, and there are no guarantees he will get it.
Lazio also signed Juventus’ talented young midfielder Marco Borriello, who could make his Serie A debut against Lazio.
Borriellos performances so far have been inconsistent, and his only goal for Italy has been an own goal in the 4-2 defeat to Atalanta.
With the arrival in Rome of Matri and Ranocchi, it’s a real opportunity for Lazioni to claim the league title again.
