President Donald Trump is expected to sign an executive order to repeal the Affordable Care Act and replace it with a single-payer system on Friday, a White House official told Reuters on Thursday.
Trump has repeatedly called for a “single-payer” system, which would offer healthcare coverage to everyone regardless of their income.
The Trump administration has said that the plan will not change the existing structure of the Affordable Act and that the president is still looking for input from the private sector on how best to implement the new system.
However, the White House has said the president intends to announce a replacement by the end of the year.
The White House said it had received the details of the executive order on Thursday and would hold a news conference on Friday to discuss the announcement.
