St. Louis Insurance and Risk Management
Lees insurance company will join a Japanese insurance company that plans to offer cheaper policies to consumers, with a focus on high-risk areas.
The new alliance, known as Kiyotani, will include Japan’s largest insurer, Mizuho Financial, and Japan’s third-largest insurer, Nippon Kaigi.
The company said it will take advantage of the alliance’s focus on areas with high numbers of uninsured people and low coverage.
Kiyotsai will offer an affordable insurance plan, it said.
The announcement comes as the country has been rocked by a series of major pandemics, including an unprecedented outbreak of coronavirus that claimed more than 8,000 lives last month and another outbreak that has sickened at least 1,400 people in the past week.
